As for Nussbaum, I largely agree with her arguments about the burqa, but I think she’s wrong to draw such a close equivalence between hatred of Jews and hatred of Muslims. Pam Geller and her fellow “counter-jihadists” don’t regard Muslims as biologically tainted, and don’t hold them collectively responsible for a specific “crime” such as the execution of Jesus, but hatred of Jews has often included both those elements.

I tend to agree with those who criticize references to ‘militant atheism’ as being unfair in the literal sense.
