Allowing people to express themselves publicly is essential. I want to see prayerfests and atheist marches, and sikhs and hindu and muslisms speaking out… secularism is not about state atheism, its about letting people live the way they would.

I really hate street preaching, but it is good they are there, because their presence reminds us we all have that freedom.

Religious ceremonies of all kinds can be pretty interesting to watch, and I certainly don’t feel imposed upon when I see one being carried out in public. Come to think of it, this is pretty much my attitude to public displays of sexuality, too.

With that said, it doesn’t sound like the protesters at the religious meeting described in the article were being disruptive in any meaningful way. Their actions should fall comfortably under the banner of free speech.

In a perfect world, Christians would hold Prayerfests at home or in private facilities and not expose the public to their superstitious nonsense.
