Participate in Peterborough Pride with CFI!

This just in

The Centre for Inquiry will be participating in the Peterborough Pride Parade on September 15, 2012. Although CFI has walked in Pride Parades in Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, Ottawa, Vancouver and elsewhere for years, this will be our first opportunity to join atheists and skeptics from Peterborough, Ajax and nearby to show our support for LGTBQ rights!

The Centre for Inquiry’s broad mandate includes three areas of relevance to the gay and lesbian community: the promotion of evidence based decision making, fundamental freedoms and equality between all citizens, and the protection of our secular society.

For more details, please check out our new LGTBQ issues brochure

The Centre for Inquiry and the Canadian Secular Alliance are member organizations of the Ontario GSA Coalition, a network of 13 organizations pushing for the constitutional right of students to form Gay Straight Alliances under their chosen name.

As circulated previously, CFI presented to the Ontario Government Committee on Social Issues as part of the successful campaign to pass Bill 13: Accepting Schools Act. Click here for the transcript of those remarks.

The Chair of the Board, staff and local members of CFI Canada will be walking in the Peterborough Pride Parade carrying a banner, wearing colourful t-shirts, and passing out information about CFI Canada. If you would like to join us and/or meet to discuss CFI activities in the region, you are welcome to join us between 11:00 -1:00 at Natas Cafe, located at 376 George Street North. Please RSVP to jtrottier@cficanada.ca
