Please do not confuse the game played by those in the NHL as that Canadian national sport called hockey. This is the time to rediscover hockey. It’s the game played by kids at local arenas and on outdoor man-made rinks. Go and support those folks. Put your skates on and get out and play the game. Forget the spoiled brats that try to make a business out of what should be a participatory activity. Fuck the NHL and all involved with it.

Interesting article but I take umbrage to the phrase “as all Canadians”. 8)

First, it was prior to midnight in Alberta when the story broke so many Canadians went to bed with the knowledge.

Second, being Canadian (even a second or third generation Canadian such as myself) does not engender an innate enjoyment of all things hockey…or any thing hockey, for that matter. My dad and brothers wish it were so for me, but it is not. I’ll actually be okay with the tranquility of a winter without NHL hockey for the second time in a decade. Too bad our winters suck so much that the CFL season couldn’t extend earlier and later in the year. If the hockey/football season lengths were reversed, that would suit me fine.

As for the rest, only NHL hockey is affected by the lockout. Look around and you’ll find that there are ways to get your hockey fix, even within your neighbourhood, from those who still play for love of the game rather than for love of the dollar (millions of them).
