Atheist Cocktail: The Canadian Atheist

60 ml Canadian whisky (Alberta Premium Dark Horse)
30 ml maple syrup (preferably Grade B if you can find it)
one dash of lemon bitters

Add ingredients to an old fashioned glass filled with a large ice cube. Garnish with a mint sprig smacked between your palms to release the oils.

Basically just an Old Fashioned with maple syrup instead of sugar. The fresh mint you find in stores at this time of year is woody and bitter, but it plays well with the maple notes.

I wanted something quick and easy to kick off Atheist Cocktail Week here at Canadian Atheist where I’ll be posting one or two blasphemous recipes every day. Apparently I’ve been spending too much time making fancy drinks at home rather than blogging about atheism, so I thought I better combine the two. Enjoy.
