So, I’m not a big fan of Twitter, as it tends to make manifest the worst aspects of our attention deficient society.
But even Twitter isn’t all bad…. I guess…
Twitter users have been using #IllRideWithYou to offer company to Muslim riders on public transit following reports that two women wearing hijabs were accosted on a TTC train Wednesday evening and anti-Muslim graffiti was found on a GO train
This, in my opinion is how to bravely stand up against terror. Even you and I, living our relatively safe lives can refuse to give into fear.
Twitter users have also been using #StandWithMuslimsTO to show support for Muslims after a mosque was burned in Peterborough Saturday and a Muslim woman was attacked
There are certainly enemies out there, who would do us harm, but we are stronger together. We may disagree on many things, but at the end of the day, people are people, regardless of the hats they wear.
So, I’ll ride with you… Just you know, don’t talk too loudly, don’t take up too much room, and remember it’s Toronto, so yeah, minimal eye contact.
