Rebekah: Saskatoon, SK

Rebekah is an American transplant in the Great White North.  A preacher’s-kid-turned-heretic from Savannah, Georgia, Rebekah came to Canada in 2002 to get a graduate degree and instead ended up marrying a good Mennonite boy. She’s now a black sheep on both sides of the family.

Rebekah stays busy coordinating the Saskatoon Secular Family Network, Café Apostate, and the Reasonable Women groups in Saskatoon. She just recently finished her training to become a secular Celebrant, and now plans on fighting the province of Saskatchewan to give her the legal rights to officiate ceremonies (without denominational support).

In her “free” time, Rebekah is the mama to a presumptuous preschooler, is obsessed about her spot in the community garden, and periodically blogs (read: rants) at grrrlmeetsworld.com.

Jay RG: Montreal, QC

Jay RG is a nuclear engineering graduate with a soft spot for thermodynamics. He grew up in Peterborough, On, and later went to school near Toronto. After graduation, he worked for fourteen months at a nuclear reactor in the USA; but then decided to return to Canada to pursue a career in mechanical engineering and design. He has a passion for reading and writing about science and technology; specifically their influence on society. Religion and Politics also play a vital roll, as he feels that, globally, we are flirting with a very thin line (and an up hill battle) between human prosperity and self-annihilation; the goal being the former.
