Canadian Atheist turns 1 today!

I think we’ve done a good job keeping up with events, issues of the day, and news articles of interest to Canadian atheists. We also seem to be the only independent site that regularly reports on atheist organizations, which I think is an important task as atheist activism moves forward.

I hope you can use this opportunity to comment on what you like about the site, what doesn’t work so well, what can be improved, what’s missing, etc. Being a Canadian content centre, we’ve evolved somewhat into a discussion forum where good debates can happen, as opposed to some of the other popular atheist blogs where the comment section is filled with people who agree with each other (boring).

Since I’m already breaking our ‘no meta posts’ rule I might as well use the opportunity to pitch for more writers. We already have a wide range of voices, cover most topics, and are well spread out across Canada but there are still holes to fill and plenty of room for more content as the site expands. I look forward to another exciting year! Maybe tonight I’ll open my bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue I’ve been saving for a special occasion.
